Brazilian Dental Association - National ABO

What is ABO?

The ABO is acknowledged as a non-profit public utility organization devoted to the dentistry segment and to the oral health of Brazilian population. ABO is represented in the 27 federal units by the State Sections and in 294 cities, through Sectionals known as ABO NETWORK.

This NETWORK is considered the world's largest one in Dentistry scientific publications and totalizes 321 cells and more than 1.500 dental offices at UniABO – with 85 Schools of Continuing Education that provide free or subsidized dental care to the population.

It is the only Brazilian organization Regular Member of the World Dental Federation (FDI) in which it is the largest acknowledged body of delegates in this entity, where it represents all Brazilian dentists with the right to speak, to vote and to be voted. Besides, it holds two seats at the FDI Board: Dr. Roberto Vianna, elected-president who will take office in September of 2009 at the Singapore 's Congress; and Dr. Norberto Lubiana, from the FDI Board who is a candidate for reelection in Singapore . ABO also represents Brazil as country member at the Latin American Dental Federation (FOLA).

By means of strong political participation, ABO is represented at the “Fórum Permanente em Defesa do Setor de Serviços” (Permanent Forum in Advocacy of the Services Sector), and recently, it created the “Fórum Permanente em Defesa do Setor Saúde” (Permanent Forum in Advocacy of the Health Sector) with permanent participation in the support of the class and the population's oral health.

 

Mission

Our mission is to foster nationally and internationally the Dentistry by giving more importance to the dentist in the technical/scientific and social/cultural scenarios and, by contributing with the policy to promote the oral health of the population.
