RESUMO

Introdução - A estomatoscopia é a adaptação da colposcopia (método clínico de investigação da cérvice com o objetivo de diagnosticar as lesões pré-malignas e o carcinoma cervical inicial) para a observação aproximada e detalhada das estruturas orais. Na tentativa de ampliar ainda mais a visão e melhorar a adaptação para o exame da boca, aparelhos mais modernos têm sido utilizados. O objetivo deste trabalho é comparar o colposcópio e a videocâmera oral como instrumentos auxiliares no exame clínico dos tecidos moles da boca. Material e Métodos - A amostra foi constituída por 10 indivíduos examinados pelo colposcópio e 10 indivíduos examinados pela videocâmera oral. Esses aparelhos foram avaliados com relação à facilidade em proceder ao exame, ao acesso às regiões examinadas, ao conforto do paciente durante o exame, à duração do exame e às funções fornecidas pelos equipamentos. Resultados - A videocâmera obteve vantagens sobre o colposcópio com relação à facilidade do ajuste do foco, ao aumento fornecido, ao acesso a todas as regiões examinadas, ao tempo de exame e ao conforto fornecido ao paciente durante o exame. Conclusão - O uso da videocâmera oral no exame clínico dos tecidos moles da boca é mais vantajoso do que o uso do colposcópio.

ABSTRACT

Introduction - The Stomatoscopy is the adaptation of the Colposcopy (clinical method for investigation of the cervix with the objective of diagnosis premalignant lesions and the early cervical carcinoma) for the approach and detailed observation of the oral structures. In the attempt to amplify even more the image and to improve the adaptation for the oral examination, more modern equipments have been used. The aim of this paper is to compare the colposcope and the oral video camera as auxiliary instruments for clinical examinations of oral soft tissues. Material and Methods - The sample was constituted for 10 individuals examined with the colposcope and 10 individuals examined with the oral video camera. These equipments were evaluated in relation to the easiness in proceeding the exam, the access for all the examined regions, the patient ' s comfort during the examination, the duration of the examination and the functions supplied by these equipments. Results - The oral video camera got advantages over the colposcope in relation to the easiness of the adjustment of the focus, in the access for all the examined regions during the exam and the patient ' s comfort. Conclusion - In conclusion the use of the oral video camera in the clinical exam of the oral soft tissues is more advantage than the use of the colposcope.
