O futuro é agora

Dando continuidade à proposta de pensar sobre o futuro da Odontologia nas páginas da Revista ABO Nacional, a terceira edição da série especial sobre este tema foca na pesquisa odontológica brasileira, seu cenário atual e principais perspectivas. Aparentemente, a reportagem atual aborda um tema bem diferente das duas anteriores, que trataram sobre o ideal de levar saúde bucal a todos e da importância da promoção de saúde desde a primeira infância, mas eles se cruzam num ponto bastante importante. Isso porque, depois de ter chegado a um bom nível quantitativo e qualitativo,

a produção científica brasileira em Odontologia tem agora o desafio de converter seus resultados positivos em benefícios reais para toda a população, promovendo saúde para todos. Para alcançar este objetivo, bem como continuar acompanhando as inovações tecnológicas e científicas e aumentar o reconhecimento internacional, pesquisadores, instituições de ensino e setor privado devem pensar, debater e agir agora, pois os ganhos futuros serão resultado de um longo e paciente caminhar. Nas próximas páginas, o tema é apresentado por importantes nomes da pesquisa brasileira: Flávio Fava de Moraes, José Luiz Lage-Marques, Jaime Cury, Silvio e Monica Duailibi, Maria Fidela de Lima Navarro e Mayana Zatz.

Research - The future is now

Continuing the proposal of thinking about the future of Dentistry on ABO Journal Magazine pages, the third edition of this special series on this matter focuses Brazilian dental research, its current scenery and its main perspectives. Apparently, the current text approaches a topic very different from the two previous ones that talked about the ideal of providing oral health to everybody and the importance of promoting health as from the early life, but they intercross in a very important aspect.

That is because after getting to a good quantitative and qualitative level, the Brazilian scientific production in Dentistry has now the challenge of converting its positive results in real benefits for the entire population, promoting oral health to everybody.

To reach this target, as well as to continue following the technological and scientific innovations and enhance international recognition, researchers, teaching institutions and the private sector should think, debate and act now, since future gains will be the result from a long and persevering walk.
