RESUMO

A tração osteogênica é um método de alongamento ósseo que tem evoluído de forma notável no tratamento de deformidades alveolares e maxilofaciais. O desenvolvimento de novos aparelhos juntamente com o aperfeiçoamento da técnica cirúrgica tem contribuído para a reconstrução de rebordos alveolares atróficos, reduzindo a necessidade de enxertos ósseos, devolvendo estética e função ao paciente. O objetivo deste artigo é relatar através da revisão de literatura, as aplicações da tração osteogênica em Implantodontia.

ABSTRACT

Osteogenic distraction is a method for bone lengthening which has been well documented and applied in the treatment of craniofacial and alveolar deformities. Several equipments have been developed for the augmentation of the alveolar ridge in masticatory rehabilitation procedures, minimizing the need for bone graft. The aim of this article is to relate, through literature review, the applications of the distraction osteogenesis for Implantology.
